Ellie has been diagnosed with forelimb lameness with the pain arising from both her right and left front feet, fetlock region and proximal suspensory desmitis. Due to the multi-factorial nature of Ellie’s lameness, her owner was keen to try acupuncture to complement any medical treatment.
At the time of our first acupuncture treatment, Ellie was significantly right forelimb lame at trot in a straight line and the owner was concerned about her general demeanour due to pain and her reduced work.
Ellie has undergone 3 acupuncture treatments (one treatment weekly, for 3 weeks) and she is currently sound in walk and trot, her owner has reported marked improvements after each treatment both in her level of soundness and in her demeanour. We are now performing acupuncture fortnightly and will continue with a custom plan of increasingly longer periods between treatments.
